WWE WrestleMania Backlash Results:

Ziggler and Roode attack Dominik Mysterio backstage.

WWE United States Champion Sheamus beats Ricochet. NOT a great start for the babyface if this becomes a feud.

Cool PPV intro by Dave “Batista” Bautista promoting his Netflix film Army of The Dead!

WWE Raw Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match: Rhea Ripley (c) defeated Asuka and Charlotte Flair after pinning Asuka to retain the Raw Women’s Title. Ripley hit the Riptide. Awkward finish looked like Flair was going breakup the pin, but no avail. Their feud will continue!

Rhea Ripley Interview Post Match:

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio  defeated Dolph Ziggler (c) and Robert Roode to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Not sure why this couldn’t have been at WrestleMania, but great moment for the first father-son tag team champs in WWE history. Started out as a handicap match, but like a true babyface, Dominik willed his way back into the match and won!

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Bianca Belair (c) defeated Bayley to retain the SmackDown Women’s
Title.
Very good match as you’d expect from these two.

Lumberjack Match Sponsored by Army of The Dead: Damian Priest defeated The Miz with ZOMBIE LUMBERJACKS and horror movie effects at ringside. WWE programming has done damn near irreparable damage to mainstream wrestling in the pandemic era between the mostly terrible cinematic matches, EYE FOR AN EYE, and now this. Congrats on failing upwards to lucrative content deals though. This was brutal.

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match: Bobby Lashley (c) (with MVP) defeated Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman after pinning Strowman with a spear. Fun match, but we’ve seen so many multiperson matches in WWE in AEW these last few years. Some awesome spots include Strowman powerbombing McIntyre through the announcers table, McIntyre slamming Lashley through the set, and the finish, which saw Lashley throw McIntyre out of the ring after hitting a Claymore Kick on Strowman. Looks like Lashley vs. McIntyre will continue at one more PPV…

WWE Hell in a Cell 2021 confirmed for June 20. So HIAC no longer part of fall schedule.

WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) (with Paul Heyman) defeated Cesaro via technical submission (guillotine choke) to retain the Universal Title. Usos stayed backstage during the match. Fantastic main event that saw Reigns work over Cesaro’s arm throughout the match. It should’ve ended with just with Reigns celebrating and Cesaro getting a (virtual) standing ovation in the Thunderdome. Instead, Jey Uso came out to beat up Cesaro. Then, Seth Rollins in his clown suit came out and destroyed Cesaro’s arm with a steel chair after briefly teasing a challenge to Reigns. This ending was overdone and took away from the great effort Cesaro put out. Cesaro should’ve been in this spot seven years ago, but better late than never. Both men delivered and then some.

Overall, a thumbs up show even with the Priest vs. Miz Zombies abomination with Reigns vs. Cesaro being the must-see Match of The Night.
