About James Northcote: James is an actor, producer, teacher, and photographer. He has worked with internationally acclaimed directors Lars Von Trier, Amma Asante, Andrea Arnold and Joe Wright, as well as extensively in television and theatre in the UK. He was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Ensemble Award and won the Newport Beach Film Festival Ensemble Award for ‘The Imitation Game’ with Benedict Cumberbatch.
He worked on The Last Kingdom (Netflix), recently completed Catherine the Great with Helen Mirren (HBO) and stars in upcoming comedy The Break with Philip Jackson and Alison Steadman (BBC radio). His first film as a producer ‘Morning is Broken’ was nominated for the Iris Prize and was part of BFI Flare’s first Five Films for Freedom. It screened in 90 countries internationally and secured numerous distribution deals. His production company Visual Goods creates genre films with socially conscious stories. As a teacher James has run workshops focusing particularly on film acting.
His experience on set as an actor and a producer has given him a unique perspective on how an actor can use their knowledge of the filmmaking process to improve their craft.
