WWE Raw 5/18/20 Results – WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL – Airing live on USA Network

Note: No fans in attendance due to COVID-19 prevention restrictions. Commentators: Byron Saxton, Samoa Joe, Tom Phillips. WWE airs a very nice tribute video to Becky Lynch who is officially on maternity leave.

Best wishes to the families of Shad Gaspard and 411Mania writer Larry Csonka during these tragic times.

Edge vs. Randy Orton is confirmed for WWE Backlash on June 14 in a promo segment with Charly Caruso. This will be a straight professional wrestling match and should hopefully be better than their rather long and polarizing Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36. The promos and angles in this feud have been great.

For some strange reason, WWE keeps hyping Edge vs. Orton as potentially THE GREATEST MATCH OF ALL TIME. In the empty arena era?! Very bizarre and unnecessary marketing for a matchup between two future WWE Hall of Famers…

Seth Rollins shows no remorse for his attack on Rey Mysterio last week on Monday Night Raw. Mysterio is out of action with the (storyline) eye injury suffered at the hands of Rollins. Humbert Carrillo interrupts Rollins and challenges him in honor of Mysterio. Rollins opts to have Buddy Murphy do his bidding.

Buddy Murphy defeated Humberto Carrillo. Yes, I know Murphy lost his first name, but I will keep calling him BUDDY until they bring it back. Post-match Aleister Black runs in for the save.

Liv Morgan sit-down interview. Morgan says growing up her mother is her hero and stayed determined, even with little money and no job. Morgan believes holding her own with Charlotte Flair taught her that she’s determined just like her mother and believes on day she will become WWE Raw Women’s Champion. Morgan very emotional here.

WWE NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair cuts a promo putting herself over as the hardest working champ who appears across three brands. Flair challenges SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley to a Champion vs. Champion Match on Friday Night SmackDown 5/22/20.

WWE NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair def. Ruby Riott in a non-title match. This is a far cry from their title match a couple of years ago on the WWE Fastlane PPV. Too short for Riott fans’ liking and a quick night in the office.. er… ring for Flair.

MVP cuts a scathing promo to Bobby Lashley’s face telling him to stop wasting time with his wife Lana and R-Truth and to focus his energy on the WWE Championship. Lashley concurs.

Nia Jax interrupts Asuka and Kairi Sane’s Raw Women’s Championship celebration and is knocked out of the ring. Later in the show, Jax attacks Sane, who is then avenged by Asuka backstage. Got all that? Nice to see Asuka being protected similarly to her dominant NXT run.

Bobby Lashley defeated R-Truth via Full Nelson submission. Short, dominant match for The Dominator. Lana flips her lid backstage. Again. WWE has some horrible writers of female character dialogue or lack thereof.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeated The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) via disqualification. Short, uneventful match ends in a DQ after Royce slams Bliss into the ring post several times. Lame finish.

Backstage, Kay flips out and slaps Royce. They cry and hug after. OK then.

WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits and Viking Raiders face off in a wacky axe contest. Let’s just say Erik and Ivar gain the advantage this week.

Shayna Baszler defeated Natalya in a submission match. Natalya has a full blown meltdown after the match, destroying the Kevin Owens Show set.

Kevin Owens comes out to discuss his WrestleMania 36 win over Seth Rollins and how it came at a price. KO is interrupted by Zelina Vega, Andrade, Austin Theory, and Angel Garza. Owens surprises Vega’s stable with the return of Apollo Crews, which leads to…

Kevin Owens and Apollo Crews defeated WWE U.S. Champion Andrade and Angel Garza. Theory botches his interference and hits Garza, leading to Crews hitting him with the sitout powerbomb for the win.

After the match, Garza and Andrade beat up Theory and kick him out of their stable.

Andrade vs. Apollo Crews for the WWE United States Championship booked for Raw 5/25/20.

Aleister Black defeated Murphy via DQ after Austin Theory interfered. Oddly, no Carrillo out to save Black.

Austin Theory joins Seth Rollins’ Monday Night Messiah stable. Rollins, Theory, and Murphy beat up Black.

Bobby Lashley comes out with MVP to make his intentions to challenge for the WWE Title known to Drew McIntyre. Lashley says he will pry the WWE Title out of McIntyre’s cold dead hands should it come to that.

Raw vs. SmackDown Brand Invitational Match: WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defeated King Corbin. This is apparently the first ever Drew McIntyre vs. Baron Corbin match. Good main event even if this is the wacky Wild Card rule disguised as something else. Lashley and MVP look on from the entrance ramp as McIntyre makes it known they can wrestle any time.
