New WWE U.S. Champion Apollo Crews.
Apollo Crews is your new WWE United States Champion.

After five years of ups and downs with WWE, Apollo Crews can finally call himself a title holder.

Crews defeated Andrade on the May 25, 2020 edition of Monday Night Raw to win the WWE United States Championship. This is Crews’ first championship win in WWE.

Andrade had been WWE U.S. Champion since Dec. 26, 2019, defeating Rey Mysterio to win the title at a non-televised live event at Madison Square Garden. Since then, between a 30-day Wellness Policy violation suspension served as champion and being booked in mainly tag team action, Andrade had rarely defended the U.S. Title.

The expected direction for Andrade seems to be continuing to team with Angel Garza and Zelina Vega. Hopefully for Crews, his run as U.S. Champion ends up better than Ricochet’s. Considering this title change takes place two weeks before the WWE Backlash pay-per-view, expect a rematch sooner rather than later.

During a time when good news has been a rarity in pro wrestling and the real world, this is a welcome bright spot on WWE programming. Congratulations to NEW WWE United States Champion Apollo Crews!
