Cleveland Browns Roster Moves for Aug. 4-10
Aug. 4: Running Dontrell Hilliard and safety Jovante Moffatt activated from Reserve/COVID-19 List
Aug 5: Browns have placed guard Colby Gossett on reserve/opt-out list. Gossett will not play in 2020 NFL season. Originally selected by the Minnesota Viking in the sixth round of 2018 NFL Draft, Gossett spent 15 weeks on the Browns’ practice squad in 2019 season.
Note: Any NFL player may opt out of participating in the 2020 NFL season for any reason. The player must provide the club with written notice of his election to opt out. Once given, the notice will be irrevocable for the remainder of the 2020 season.
-Quarterback Garrett Gilbert is activated from Reserve/COVID-19 List.
Aug 6: Guard Malcolm Pridgeon place on reserve/opt-out list. Pridgeon spent the final 15 weeks of the 2019 season on the Browns’ practice squad.
Aug. 8: Cornerback M.J. Stewart claimed via waivers. At 5’11” and 200 pounds, the North Carolina product enters his third NFL season. Stewart was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of 2018 NFL Draft and has appeared in 21 NFL games with six starts. Stewart totaled 64 career tackles and five passes defensed. A native of Arlington, VA, appeared in 10 games with one start with Bucs in 2019.
–Activated from Active/PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List (3): Tight end Pharaoh Brown, safety Karl Joseph, wide receiver Jarvis Landry
Activated from Active/NFI (Non-football injury and illness): Wide receiver J’Mon Moore
-All four activated players may participate in all team activities.
Aug. 9: Browns sign guard Michael Dunn. At 6’5″ and 315lbs, Dunn is officially in his first NFL season coming out of Maryland. Originally signed by the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Dunn has spent time on the LA Rams (2017) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2018) practice squads. Dunn also spent time with the Miami Dolphins during the 2019 preseason and was a member of the Birmingham Iron (AAF) in 2019 and Seattle Dragons (XFL) in 2020. He is a native of Bethesda, MD.
-Browns waived tight end Nate Wieting.
Aug. 10: Browns sign G Jovahn Fair and waived CB Jameson Houston. Fair is a 6’2″, 310lb rookie out of Temple University. Originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, Fair started 42 of his 45 career games for the Temple Owls. He is a native of Akron, OH and attended Firestone High School.
