Bellator 244: Bader vs. Nemkov took place Friday, August 21, 2020 at the empty Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT and aired lived on Paramount Network and DAZN.
Bellator 244: Bader vs. Nemkov Results – Main Card:
Light Heavyweight Championship Main Event: Vadim Nemkov (13-2) defeated Ryan Bader (27-6, 1 NC) via TKO (strikes) at 3:03 of round two to become the new Bellator light heavyweight champion. Complete domination by the underdog Nemkov, who becomes the first Russian 205lb champion and brings home Bellator gold to Team Fedor Emelianenko.
Women’s Featherweight Co-Main Event: Julia Budd (14-3) defeated Jessy Miele (9-4) via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27). After the fight, Budd said she’s ready for a rematch with Cris Cyborg and discussed her social justice efforts outside of the Bellator MMA cage.
Heavyweights: Valentin Moldavsky (10-1) defeated Roy Nelson (23-20) via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). Moldavsky is another Team Fedor protege who looked great against UFC veteran “Big Country.” It would be quite ironic for Moldavsky to face his teammate Nemkov’s most recent opponent Ryan Bader for the Bellator Heavyweight Championship. A Bader vs. Fedor Team feud?
Middleweights: John Salter (18-4) defeated Andrew Kapel (15-7) via submission (arm triangle) at 3:11 of round three. Salter got the late finish in impressive fashion.

175lb Catchweight Fight: Yaroslav Amosov (24-0) defeated Mark Lemminger (11-2) via TKO (doctors stoppage) at 5:00 of round one. The welterweight “Dynamo” remains undefeated and should be coming to a Bellator MMA main card very soon.
Lightweights: Sidney Outlaw (15-4) defeated Adam Piccolotti (12-4) via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Outlaw bounces back from his loss to former lightweight champion Michael Chandler and edges out the Bellator veteran Piccolotti.
Bantamweights: Joshua Hill (20-3) defeated Erik Perez (19-8) via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27). Josh Hill gets a big win over UFC veteran Perez. “Goyito” Perez is now 0-2 in his short Bellator career. Post-fight, Hill calls out Conor McGregor’s protege James Gallagher and Sergio Pettis.
147lb Catchweight Bout: Weber Almeida (4-0) defeated Salim Mukhidinov (7-5) via knockout (punches) at 3:57 of round one. All of Almeida’s wins have come by KO/TKO. Post-fight, Almeida said he’s looking forward to continuing his career in Bellator and reveals he’s in an Amazon Studios film coming soon!
150lb Catchweight bout: John de Jesus (13-8) defeated Vladyslav Parubchenko (16-2) via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28). Check out John de Jesus’ Bellator 244 post-fight interview:

Featherweights: Lucas Brennan (3-0) defeated Will Smith (3-2) via TKO (punches) at 4:14 of round two. No, not that Will Smith, but impressive performance nonetheless.
Overall, Bellator 244 was a great showcase of rising young stars in the promotion and the start of Julia Budd getting back into featherweight title contention. Thumbs up show!
