WWE announcer and on-air personality Renee Young revealed she has COVID-19 per her official Twitter account.

“Man. What a few days. My show gets cancelled and I get Covid. Wear your masks and wash your hands. Stay safe, everyone”

Young is having a rough week to say the least, with FOX Sports abruptly cancelling her weekly show WWE Backstage on FS1 and now coming up positive for the novel coronavirus.

Young most recently appeared on the June 19 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. On Wednesday, ProWrestlingSheet.com and PWInsider.com reported anywhere between three to “two dozen” WWE wrestlers, staff, and crew had tested positive for COVID-19, likely shutting down this week’s SmackDown tapings.

Considering WWE even start TESTING FOR COVID-19 UNTIL LAST WEEK, I’d say it’s a good idea to suspend production until the company truly guarantee the health and safety of everyone involved. It’s one thing to have a positive test after taking most recommended precautions like AEW and UFC have. It’s completely different animal to be as flippant and negligent as WWE has been with only relatively unreliable temperature checks.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Young’s real life husband, did not appear on Dynamite Wednesday night for precautionary reasons. The safety of Moxley’s wife is obviously top priority, but this certainly puts next week’s AEW World Title match with Brian Cage at Fyter Fest in doubt.

I sincerely hope Young gets well soon and heads straight to ESPN, FS1, or wherever else she’s truly appreciated without ever looking back.

What a disastrous week for WWE that could’ve been prevented.
