Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton finally has a new home.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, the New England Patriots have signed the former MVP QB to a one year, incentive-based deal. TSC News editor Fred Richani reacts to the Pats getting Newton for a bargain:

Newton will join Tom Brady’s heir apparent Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer in training camp to compete for the starting job. Despite being riddled with injuries since the Panthers’ Super Bowl appearance in 2016, Newton is still just 31 years old and could make an immediate impact if healthy.

In addition to the Pats’ good news, the organization also received some bad news. Per Schefter, the Patriots will be fined $1.1 million, lose a 2021 third round pick, and the organizations TV crew is not allowed to film during the 2020 season.
