Lucas Niang transcript below courtesy of Chiefs:

Q: What are your thoughts about being versatile to play tackle and guard?

NIANG: “Ever since getting drafted and having that conversation at the combine, about me potentially moving to guard, I’ve been practicing both guard and tackle trying to get comfortable so I can be as versatile as possible to help my team out.”

Q: Why is Black Lives Matter a cause that means so much to you?

NIANG: “Being as I am African American, it’s just part of my lifestyle. I want to do better for me, I want to do better for the people who come after me and everybody and all my brothers. I can’t just stand around and let it happen.”

Q: What challenges do you feel you and other rookies will face without a preseason and do you think it could be helpful or hindrance?

NIANG: “I think it depends on how it goes for you personally, but I think every rep is going to be more important previously because you don’t have those preseason games to  go and show your stuff so in practice you can’t make any mental errors or mistakes because they’re going to count a lot more.”

Q: How excited are you to be at the facility and get back to football?

NIANG: I’m super excited, it’s nice to see how they’re doing everything safety wise, keeping us safe and making us feel comfortable, but I’m really excited to get on the field.”
