Huge news via Buccaneers Communications: “The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today designated nose tackle Vita Vea for return from the Reserve/Injured list, allowing him to resume practicing with the team. The Buccaneers have a 21-day window to return Vea to the active roster.

Vea (6-4, 347) played in five games with the Buccaneers during the 2020 regular season, recording 10 tackles (three for loss), three quarterback hits and 2.0 sacks. Since being drafted No. 12 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay, Vea has played in 34 career games, making 29 starts, recording 73 tackles (11 for loss), 19 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks and three passes defensed. He has been a key cog in the Buccaneers’ run defense which has allowed the least amount of rushing yards in consecutive seasons. The Milpitas, California, native and Washington product wears No. 50 for Tampa Bay.”

It’s unfortunate tight end O.J. Howard (Achilles) is unable to return, but incredible to see Vea make enough of a recovery to have a chance to play.

The Buccaneers play No. 1 seed Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field for the NFC Championship on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 3:05pm/ET live on FOX.
